Benefits of Moringa

Posted on 06 June 2018

Moringa has been variously known in different parts of the world as the tree of life, Mother’s best friend and miracle tree. It is a native of the sub-Himalayan northern India and was also used by ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians. Moringa is a fast growing tree that is highly nutritious and easy to grow. All parts of this tree can be used as food. It has been used in India for centuries for its nutritious and therapeutic value.

Moringa leaves are said to contain 24 times more iron than spinach leaves, 9 times more vitamin A than carrots, many times the potassium of bananas, and every amino acid the body requires. In addition to its value as a food packed with nutrients, it has medicinal properties.

According to Ayurveda (Indian traditional medicine) moringa is used as a detoxifier and nourisher at the same time because it cleanses the liver and purifies the blood while it strengthens the heart and raises metabolism. Research has found that moringa can reduce sugar and protein levels in urine.

Scientists from three Indian universities conducted studies that show antibiotic activity of the moringa leaves. Its effective treatment against H. pylori bacteria by scientists at Johns Hopkins University is referenced below. H. pylori is a major cause of gastric and duodenal ulcers.
